Oatly and heart health

Oatly's patented production process allows the (cholesterol-lowering) beta glucan present in the oats to remain intact. As a result, not only are all Oatly oat drinks low in saturated fat - they also contain beta glucan.

Clinical studies show that the consumption of oat drink is linked with a reduction in cholesterol levels in comparison with cow's milk, which suggests that the presence of beta glucan makes oat drink a suitable alternative to cow's milk for people wishing to reduce their cholesterol (1,2).

Other foods that can help introduce more beta glucan into the diet include porridge, muesli or other oat-based cereals, oat cakes and oat-enriched breads.
